My First Blog Giveaway!!

I've been wanting to do a blog giveaway for a long time. Today's the day! Leave me a comment on this post and I'll pick a winner this weekend. The winner will have her choice between these three rose corsage pins, needle felted by yours truly. Think about which color you like best in case you're the girl! There's fushia, a peachy tangerine and a plummy periwinkle. These look so pretty on a scarf. I might need to add something blingy to the center...

Good luck!!

Sign Up Now For "A Day In The Life Of" Class

For those of you who don't know, I created this album for a design team submission for a local SB store two years ago. After scoring a spot on the DT I submitted the project to Somerset Memories who published it in May. Many of you have asked me if I'd teach this as a class. After much consideration I've decided to teach it once, at Scrapbook Island in San Jose on September 20th. To sign up call (408) 978-8900. I hope to see you there!

I Like Where This Is Going...

I thought I'd share an update on my new studio area. I was going to have three sets of dressers/cubicles but I decided that two will be dandy. The work table will be centered in the room in front of them and I plan to have lighting installed over the table. The room gets wonderful sunshine all day but that won't do for late nights.

I now have a place for everything. Paint used to be in the garage. Now they're hidden in a drawer just an arms length away.

I love this picture of my grandpa and I at the coast. Behind it are two letters he wrote to me in 1979 when he and my grandma went on a trip to see my Aunt & Uncle. I was telling my Mom that things have a way of disappearing over time, you wonder what happens to some things. These letters however, were kept safe in my childhood jewelry box that I've taken with me to every home I've ever had.

This little doll dress is so adorable. I can't make up my mind what to do with it so I'll just let it hang for inspiration sake.

I'll be back soon. Be sweet.

We're Getting There...

Here is a picture of the table that will be delivered next month. I can't wait for it to arrive! It will be OUR project table to work at, are you excited?! The room was painted this afternoon by my husband and it's all coming together. We'll be picking up the rest of the things we need this weekend. I should be scheduling my first class at the house soon.

I've Got The Goods...

A few months back I was scheduled to be at a vendor faire. I had purchased and accumulated a bunch of my favorite things to sell but in the end, I decided not to go. I have finally taken a little bit of time to package those things to have available at my workshops. I had so much fun mixing old and new stuff together for the packets that I think I'll continue to have them available from time to time.

I may set up an Etsy account in the future but for now if you see anything you like email me and I can always put a pack in the mail to you.

The studio is coming along great. I have to pick a base for my workshop table tonight so the order can go in tomorrow.

Last but not least here is a picture of the Mock Sisters. They have been big supporters of my workshops and have met every couple of months at my home for private classes. It's always so good to see them and yesterday I was lucky enough to have all 6 of them over.

I'm thinking that by the end of the week I'll have more info for you on Surprise #2!

Surprise #1 - A New Studio & Classroom

I'm so excited that I finally made the decision to move all of this....

here...in my new studio & classroom.

Ever since we remodeled and added on a large family room our old one has sat empty. Today we pulled out the bookcases (the wall behind them was painted a plum color that you see in the pic), the crown moulding and baseboard was redone and we're ready to prime and paint. There will be two more dressers (for storage) and two more cubes on either side of the one that's been assembled. I'll be getting a long industrial metal top table (yeah metal!) to work at AND teach workshops at my home.

I plan to host one class a month for 10 people. I'm really looking forward to this because I've missed my ladies from My Daughters Wish and I'm hoping to see some of you soon. I will post again when the studio is set up and ready for visitors!

Pop back in later this week for Surprise #2. I'll give you a hint: It has a little something to do with Surprise #1 AND, don't be sad if you can't get out of town to attend one of the art retreats going on around the country...there may be something happening closer than you think :)

The Flea Market Was Good To Me Today

Usually I have a list going in my head of all the things I hope to find at the flea market each month. This month I found several things plus some other great stuff. I met up with my friend Carole, it was great to see her. I was on the lookout for more 8x10 albums when I found this miniature one. It's probably 5x7. The doll head was already inside. When I gave the guy my money I said, "it comes with the head right?", and he started cracking up. It is barely holding together too!

I did find a couple of 8x10's...

After I paid the lady I tore the front and back covers off and pitched them so they wouldn't be so heavy to carry. I heard, "Oh my!" as I turned to walk away. Inside there were some tin types, these didn't photograph well but the colored photo mats are so cute...

I also found 3 great metal spools. I've already pulled the old yarn off so I can wind some rayon ribbon on them that I just got in the mail. I was thrilled to find these because I LOVE old metal.

Some miscellaneous things...(love the lavender lingerie hanger)

That's all on the flea market photo shoot. I do have one more thing I want to share. Friday night I took a class with Connie Govea Stuart. I can't tell you how nice it was to take a class myself and sit and play. The project was fantastic, it's one I had always wanted to take with Connie, her paper clay buttons. I loved the process of making the buttons and attaching them to the cards. Connie is teaching this class again later this month (I believe the 12th or the 13th). If you have a chance to take it you'll enjoy yourself. Here's a pic of a couple that I made.

If I log off the computer now I might get a 15 minute nap in before the kids wake up from theirs!
