New Threads For An Old Dummy

I was recently shopping with my Mom and a friend when we saw a miniature mannequin with a cute tiny pink tutu. It was so cute I decided to put one on my dress form. With a 4 year old girl it didn't take but a moment of digging to find an old one from a former Halloween costume. Up until now I had glittered letters by Wendy Addison tied around the waist. I still wanted my letters tied around the waist so I just tied them on top.

The flea market is this Sunday and I can't wait to find some great stuff and devour a crepe! I'll be sure and post pictures of all that I pick up.

Goodbye Flip Flops...

Recently at work we all agreed that we needed to change our dress code from casual to business casual. We had too many people sporting track suits which was a bit too casual {you know who you are...Biren's Boo!} This change didn't impact me much however I can no longer wear flip flops 365 days a year :( So Sunday I went shoe shopping for an alternative. I didn't find anything flip-floppy but not an actual flip flop if you know what I mean but I did find these great sneakers. They're really comfortable too. I never wear sneakers so it's a great first pair I thought.

I also saw these, they're a deep ruby with hot pink stitching. I own nothing at all that goes with them but I would not be deterred. I'm sure I can find something fallish to go with them.

So a couple of hours and some $$ later and I still don't have a proper flip flop replacement. The biggest problem is that I only wear cropped pants so my choices are somewhat limited {I know...there's some weirdness that surrounds me}. Maybe ballerina flats? I don't know but I have to figure it out this weekend because I've been wearing skirts and heels this week! Ew!

Button Love

The fun thing about being a button collector is knowing that the next button you buy might be even prettier than the last. I got a bunch in the mail on Saturday. My favorites would definitely have to be the brown tortoise rhinestone bar buttons. The iridescent peachy ones are from Britex in SF, I picked them up on Saturday when I stopped by for the velvet for Saturdays class.

I'm laughing as I write this post, my 10 year old boy just sat down next to his 4 year old sister and said, "you need to take a bath ya Hobo!". Poor thing, she didn't know enough to be offended. I guess I better go handle that!

Retro Rack

You might recognize this retro rack from my last post. I realized that I never posted a picture of it. It was my best find at last months flea market. Originally black, I brought it home and painted it with my favorite hammered metal spray paint. My friend Val wasn't as excited about it as I was but I knew it would look great in my art room. Two shelves and lots of metal to clip stuff too? What's not to like. Now I want to find one for my bathroom!

We're Getting Ready for Halloween

I bought a few things this week to add to the slim pickins we had for Halloween decorations. Last night my 4 year old and I had fun bringing some fall into the house. We started with these cute teensy pumpkin branches we got from Costco...

We bought a big vase at Ikea to put them in...

At the grocery store we picked up several bags of mini pumpkins in every color they had. She stacked several in an oversized vase as a centerpiece for our dining room table...

We found this round place mat at Target to go under the vase...

When we were all done with that we strung up a Martha Stewart garland on the mantle over some dingy cheesecloth I had...

Really cute...the "blood" is sparkly...

When we got the banner we also grabbed some spiders to put on the mirror in the dining room...

I found this cloche behind a box of Cheezits so we put some pumpkins under it in the kitchen...

When Grace got tired of helping to decorate I had made it into my studio where I strung up two banners...

Added some white pumpkins to a tiny chair...

And stuck a few spiders on the mirror here too...

We were excited to decorate with all we'd collected in the past few weeks even though it's a bit early. By the time the 31st rolls around I'll probably be ready to pull everything down after we come in from trick or treating!!

A Couple of MY Tinsel & Treasures Purchases

When I saw this halloween mask made by Iva Wilcox, I had to have it. I just love it...

And cuter yet is a teeny tiny one...

From across the building I saw a bunch of these made by Colleen Moody and I ran over and had her save me this one...

Look at that sweet snowgirl face! There were so many adorable things it was hard to not buy something from everyone.

Thanks for hanging in there with my during me posting dry spell. All is returning to normal on the home front!

A Wonderful Show

I didn't want to end the day without posting a few pictures of my display at Tinsel & Treasures. It was a great experience, I enjoyed myself so much. Imagine getting an opportunity to see so many wonderful ladies that have attended past and present classes all in one day!

I was feeling like I hadn't made very much to take with me but when I set my table up I realized it barely all fit. This was my first time selling anything that I'd made and I was wistful to see a few pieces go but that's what it was all about!

I think my favorite part of my display was my doll bed. Friday night my Mom came over and said my mattress needed a cover. She went rooting through my fabric drawer and 15 minutes later it had a duvet with a built in pillow. Gotta love your Momma!

A big thanks goes out to Iva for inviting me to join the show this year. It was a first for me and SO worth going to bed with glue and/or paint or both on my hands for the last month!

Thanks to all of you that know me, and those of you who met me today, for stopping by to say hello and support me. I drove home thinking about how many friends I've made through the years and how much every relationship big or small means to me.

I'll be back tomorrow to show you what I bought at the show today! SO great!

Ribbon of Every Color

This is the last of the French ribbon that I've bought in two dozen colors to arrive. I will be selling this gorgeous yardage at my home studio classes and at my upcoming trunk show. The colors are SO rich, I've never used such fine ribbon. Don't expect it to look like it does in the picture though, I will have pulled the wire out and treated it by the time it's ready to sell. If you're free on the 18th please come see me at Tinsel & Treasures in Alamo. I'll be posting some sneak peeks by the end of this week as well as a TON of pictures of my latest flea market finds.

She Hates Goodbyes...

Yesterday was my middle boys first day of Kindergarten. He was so ready, no tears or anything like that. In fact, at the gate he gave me a smooch and never turned back. The person it was most difficult for was his sister. Being 14 months apart this is their first time being separated. This is her giving him a kiss for good luck before we walked to school. When I looked back at her standing in the driveway with my Grandma, almost a block away, she was still waving to him. If I could have put a song with her image it would have been Eric Carmen singing, "....all byyyyy myselfffff...don't want to live...all byyyyy myself....". Too funny!
