Have you ever seen such a small odd shaped purse? It's about an inch wide and about 3 1/2 inches long. I picked this up for $3 on Sunday. What do you think it would have held?
I love the worn leather!! a pair of very small wire-rimmed spectacles, perhaps? The kind that would be used for reading that ou would peer over, because they were always sliding down your nose... you know, the kind that Ben Franklin is always wearing in pictures of him-- maybe??
I was going to say a lipstick case but then realized it wasn't a very feminine pouch. So then I thought a small flashlight but realized maybe they didn't have flashlights back then. So now I am saying a small tool set.
I think it was for a metal nail file. My father had one similar but without the metal clasp. He had it in his shaving kit with all his WWII things. OR.. maybe you could put a couple of sticks of gum in it! :)
